Gov Soludo Charges South East Development Commission To Prioritize Railway Connecting Southeast States

At its 4th meeting held in the Council Chamber on 24th February, 2025, the Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) bid farewell to Mr. Mark Okoye II, former Managing Director of the Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA), now pioneer MD/CEO of the Southeast Development Commission (SEDC).
Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo CFR assured Mr. Mark of government support and charged the South East Development Commission to focus on key projects, particularly the regional railway connecting the five South East states, citing its significant economic benefits.
ANSEC supported NAFDAC’s initiative to purge markets of counterfeit and expired drugs, applauding Governor Soludo’s visit to the closed Drug Market in Onitsha. The Council urged NAFDAC to expedite inspection and verification, promising support.
To combat fake drugs, the Council decided to complete the Anambra State Pharmaceutical Hub, aka Coordinated Wholesale Drug Centre (CWC), at Oba.
Communities were urged to collaborate with the government to eradicate criminality and insecurity. ANSEC thanked Ndi Anambra for supporting new security measures and reassured traditional worshippers that the fight against fetishism and sorcery would strengthen, not undermine, traditional worship.
The Council reaffirmed its commitment to combating evil native doctors who promote wealth without work, and warned against the promotion of Oke-Ite and similar fetish products.
The 4th ANSEC approved strategic contracts, including:
– Reconstruction and fortification of the perimeter fence at the commissioners’ quarters, Awka, awarded to Aristan Developers Ltd at the cost of N57,500,000.00
– Construction of 2 NR model gates at general hospitals,with additional work of landscaping; interlocking and fencing of Enugwu-Otu Aguleri Hospital Compound  awarded to Daluchukwu & Bros Impex Ltd at the cost of N310,718,114.73
– Repainting and renovation of the VIP stand, awarded to KUV Homes & Properties at the cost of N107,119,753.69
– Reclamation and control of flood and gully erosion at the Cosmetics Market, awarded to Acode Energy Services Ltd at the cost of N188,174,822.19
