Igbo Community In Lagos Mobilizes For President Tinubu & Obafemi Hamzat Ahead Of 2027

The announcement was made by the Eze Ndigbo of Lagos State, Eze Dr. Christian Uchechukwu Nwachukwu, during a stakeholders’ meeting at the Igbo Community Center in Ago Okota, Lagos.

Eze Nwachukwu said the decision to rally support early was informed by the long-standing relationship between Ndigbo and President Tinubu, which he described as one built on mutual respect, inclusion, and shared prosperity over the years.

According to him, President Tinubu has consistently demonstrated love for the Igbo people right from his tenure as Governor of Lagos State to his current position as President of Nigeria. He cited appointments given to Igbo sons and daughters at board, commissioner, and ministerial levels both in Lagos and at the federal level as evidence of that commitment.

“President Tinubu loves Ndigbo and he has demonstrated it in practical terms. From Lagos to Abuja, our people have been given opportunities to serve. That is the kind of leadership that builds trust and unity,” Eze Nwachukwu stated.

He also praised Lagos Deputy Governor, Dr Hamzat for his open-door relationship with the Igbo community in Lagos. He noted that Hamzat has maintained consistent engagement with Igbo leaders, traders, and professionals in the state.

To ensure full grassroots participation, Eze Nwachukwu said he has directed Igbo traditional leaders and community leaders across all the 57 Local Council Development Areas in Lagos State to begin the sensitization. The directive also covers town unions, market associations, traders, market men and women, and other stakeholders.

He explained that the goal is to ensure that Ndigbo in Lagos speak with one voice and fully support the All Progressives Congress, APC, from the grassroots level to the presidency in the 2027 general elections.

“Ndigbo will fully support President Tinubu and the ruling party in Lagos State. We believe in continuity, in a government that carries everyone along. Lagos is home to all of us, and we must protect and support the leadership that recognizes us,” he added.

The Eze further urged Igbo traders in major markets across Lagos to key into the mobilization and to encourage their members to collect their Permanent Voter Cards and participate actively in the electoral process.

Political observers note that Lagos has one of the largest Igbo populations outside the South East, and their voting strength has continued to be a key factor in state and national elections.

With this early mobilization, community leaders say they are positioning Ndigbo to play a central role in shaping the political direction of Lagos and Nigeria in 2027.
