Sequel to the widespread rumour that the Executive Chairman of Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area, Hon. Babatunde Oke, died as a result of Covid-19, the Council has cleared the air over the situation.

In a statement signed by Ishmaeel Akerele, CPS, Onigbongbo LCDA, he said, “I wish to state emphatically that the former Executive Chairman of Onigbongbo LCDA died after a brief illness and not as a result of COVID-19 complications”.

“While we reflect on the passing of a great leader and astute politician, rumour mongers must not use this medium to distract his immediate families and political associates from the peaceful mourning the late Hon. Babatunde Oke deserves.”

“I pray that the Almighty God grant his household the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”

“And may his soul rest in peace as we continue to reflect on the life and times of late Hon. Babatunde Oke” Ishmaeel Akerele concluded.
