The vision for the transformation of 40 years old Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, into the Federal University of Technology, Ilaro, received a boost as a bill to that effect again passed the first reading stage in the Senate.

The bill titled “Federal University of Technology Ilaro (EST, etc) Bill, 2019(SB.84)” sponsored by Senator Solomon Adeola (APC, Lagos West) was read for the first time again on the floor of the Senate. A similar bill was sponsored by Senator Adeola in the 8th Senate but could not be passed till the end of the session leading to its re- introduction in the 9th Senate.

Speaking on his conviction to see the transformation of the four decades old Polytechnic into a University of Technology, Senator Adeola said the transformation is not only desirable but easily achievable as the current institution have the capacity and facilities to accommodate the university.

“The present site of the polytechnic can easily accommodate the proposed transformation to a university. There is need for the transformation as the nation requires more than ever the production of qualified graduates in an era and future that will be dominated by education in relevant technological disciples that the transformed university will provide” the Senator stated.

Senator Adeola further stated that the location of the university in Ilaro will further put to rest the disadvantaged position of the Ogun West Senatorial District of Ogun State as the only one without a State or Federal Government University while others have more than one of such institutions

I want to say this bill came at right time on the fact that the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro possessed the necessary facilities to be upgraded to University level more so that the people or indigene of this axis is at the disadvantage of acquired BSC as first degree unless they go to other two senatorial districts East and Central precisely where by this two senatorial district bagged the BSC & BED at their backyard bcs it’s within their territory, in addition Ogun West senatorial
district thatt are only at the advantages of possessed HND felt chitted when they get to labour Market.
Sir/Ma Ogun West is the nerve system of the state IGR and the largest industrial area in Ogun state, by citing or uppgrading this institution ( FUTECHILAR ) will be useful for the training of the staff of the many industries in that localty, Ogun state and Nigeria as a whole to mention a few, I am of opinion that this institution should be upgraded bcs the people of Ogun West is at the disadvantage of sharing of divedends of democrazy equally among her sisters senatorial district for the fact that the STATE IGR is always tapped from that axis .
I want to give kudos to Sen Adeola Olamilekan ( YAYI ) Senator representing Lagos West for his love for the people of Ogun West and Ogun State as a whole for equity and fairness among the good people of Ogun state ,thank you and God sir .

  2. AKINGBADE ABDULAFEEZ AKINBOYE says:

This is a commendable effort from the senators, I have been to the school and seen that the school could actually be turned to a university. It has all the necessary facilities of becoming one. Ranging from the big mass land and the good structures to mention but a few. This is a welcoming development
