A housewife, Mrs. Loveth Ozoihu, has been arrested in Lagos for maltreating her house help, Miss Mazihukwu Okwudili, and using a hot knife to burn her buttocks.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Josiah Aina Street in Alakuko area of Lagos where they reside.
The 25-year old Loveth was said to have brought the victim from their village to Lagos as househelp and continued to maltreat her.
On the day the incident happened, Loveth was said to be angry over an undisclosed offence the victim had committed. In anger, she took a kitchen knife, heated it up before using it to burn her buttocks and seriously injured her.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that their neighbours who knew what happened informed the police; the victim was rescued and taken to the hospital for treatment.
The police then arrested Mrs. Loveth and detained her at the Alakuko Division.
At the police station she was said to have admitted to have done so because the victim provoked her and she wanted to punish her by burning her buttocks.
She was charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for assault on the victim.
She pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Benson Emerhi, did not oppose her being granted bail.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Sule-Amzat, admitted Loveth on bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She was remanded in prison custody pending  when she will perfect her bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 20th April, 2019.
