The poor performance of Nigeria’s power sector, resulting in unstable electricity supply, low voltage, power shortage, supply outrage or frequent blackouts has been a perennial experience as Nigerians blame the Government for her inefficiency and ineffectiveness in the management of this important sector of the economy.
The situation has not improved much since the deregulation and privatization of the power sector in recent years. As a result, most Nigerians especially, private business owners, count their losses as they spend fortunes in buying PMS and diesel to power their generating sets for businesses and light up their environs. The rich are also not left out as they also count this tale of ugly experience in their closet.
However, this singular disturbing concern nay challenge of power supply, which is a recurring decimal in Nwangele LGA, Imo State, in the last 20 years or so, informed the decision of the proactive and responsive member representing Nwangele Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Amarachi Chyna Iwuanyanwu KSC, to not only initiate a Social Intervention Programme in December 2020; which is geared towards identifying and resolving issues relating to power supply across the 11 wards in Nwangele LGA, but went out of his way to donate transformers to select communities in the Local Government area in fulfilment of his political promises during the 2019 campaigns, while promising to extend this gesture to other communities as God gives him the grace to carry-on.
Judging from the foregoing, on Saturday, 29th October, 2022, Rt. Hon. Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu, KSC, MSc, in the company of the Sole Administrator of Nwangele LGA, Hon. Prince Charles Mbachu (Ishimmiri), Coordinator of Nwangele South LGA, High Chief Maurice Onwukwe, his Chief of Staff and Director General Nwangele Project, Chief Paul Duru, Dr. Smith Anyaehie, Ichie Nkpadobi, Hon. Nnorom Charles Comr. Nwadike Orıent among others, who represented APC Chairman, Nwangele LGA, Chief Philip Okechukwu Uwazuruonye joined hands with the Imo Deputy Speaker, Amara Iwuanyanwu, as he cut the ribbon of the Solar Powered Energy for commissioning to the admiration of the mass of the members of his constituency and other passersby.
The over 100 modern tech solar powered streetlights, installed along the busy and strategic popular Nkwommiri Market in Nwangele LGA spans through the Owerri-Nkwoji Market in Nkwerre LGA, ultimately provide lightning to increase visibility at night, promote safety for road users; commercial drivers and pedestrians while discouraging theft or violence, which is usually perpetrated at night in dark locations.
During his brief remarks, the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu, reiterated his legislative commitment in bringing people-oriented projects that will affect positively the mass of the members of his Nwangele State Constituency as he maintained that the solar powered streetlights are part of a face-lift initiative that will not only boost local security network but will also encourage night life.
He therefore, thanked the Imo State Governor, His Excellency, Gov. Hope Uzodimma, for demonstrating fatherly love to the good people of Nwangele LGA by extending developmental projects to them; as the people also in return reciprocate his love and care toward them by choosing to work hand-in-glove with their son, Rt. Hon. Amara Iwuanyanwu.
Meanwhile, the Sole Administrator of Nwangele LGA, Hon. Prince Charles Mbachu, during his remarks, commended the Imo Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Amara Iwuanyanwu, for proving his legislative dexterity, political sagacity and leadership capacity in fulfilling his campaign promises, assuring him of the total support of Nwangele people in his re-election bid, which according to the SOLAD: ” It’s signed, sealed and delivered to the glory of God”, while urging the people to take the message of Consolidated Capacity, as he is fired up to do more in 2023 after his inauguration.
