Labo Group Boss, Olabisi Akanbi Bags NANS Award

Real Estate guru and Chief Executive Officer of Labo Business Group, Olabisi Akanbi has been honoured for his support for the youth development and talents in Nigeria.

Akanbi was recognized by various students bodies for his philanthropy and support for the creative industry in Nigeria.

The Real Estate maven was presented the award by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Congress of Nigerian Youth (CONYO) and the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS).

Akanbi, who is also the founder of Labo Entertainment, was honoured with the annual award among other reasons; signing a fast rising artiste, Dotman whom he gave a new lease of life.

He had also made humanitarian interventions to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 pandemic among slums dwellers in Oworonshoki, Lagos as well as among the Nigerian creatives at Artiste Village, National Arts Theatre, Iganmu both in Lagos.

Since 2004, he has helped anchor the career of several other artistes including Konga, Sideone, Ecoman and Smapee.

While making the presentation, Comrade Showunmi Emmanuel, the Zonal Treasurer of National Association of Nigeria Student, South West commended the honouree for his endless service to the nation particularly Nigerian youths.

According to the NANS executive, the award is presented in recognition of Akanbi’s “passionate professional capabilities, outstanding leadership acumen, commitment, integrity and professionalism, various youth empowerment programmes, extensive knowledge in job creation and employment and selfless service to humanity.”

Comrade Olasunkanmi Ijaduoye, President, National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) added that “The leadership award is conferred in recognition of your administrative and business acumen, your professional capabilities as well as your unrelenting commitment to youth developmental and philanthropic projects in the nation.

Ijaduoye stated that through Akanbi’s Labo Group, many jobs have been created within the real estate, entertainment, automobile, public relations and other sectors.

“His effort cannot be underestimated. Through Labo Foundation, many people have been uplifted from extreme poverty and lack of basic needs. The NAPS leadership praised the young entrepreneur and achiever for his sagacity and benevolence towards humanity,” NAPS leader added.

Ambassador Abd’Mumeen Ibraheem, National Chairman, Congress of Nigerian Youth (CONYO) while presenting Icon of Excellence in Leadership Award and Certificate of Excellent Business Development to Akanbi, said the body singled out the awardees’ entrepreneurship skills.

“Indeed, you have demonstrated unwavering commitment to the Nigerian economy and have become a reference for other indigenous companies,” Ibraheem said.

Describing his recognitions as a pat on the back, Akanbi restated his commitment to continue to impart the society especially through Labo Foundation and Labo Entertainment.

“At Labo Group, we have been going about our business without seeking praise of men. It is gratifying that youth organizations are taking note of our good work. As they say, the reward of work is more work and we promise to continue our interventions to help communities and groups,” he declared.
