Lagos Sports Commission Disowns Athletes Begging For Funds To Attend Sporting Events

The management of Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC) has warned the public to beware of the activities of some unscrupulous elements parading themselves as athletes under the Commission and in the process soliciting funds from the members of the public to attend national sporting assignments.

In a Disclaimer made available to the media on Tuesday, Titi Oshodi-Eko, Director of Public Affairs of Lagos State Sports Commission, revealed how some athletes who claimed to be representing Lagos State, have gone to be begging for funds for them to wear the colours of the state at a competition slated for Calabar, Cross River State.

Oshodi-Eko emphasised that the action of these people negates the positives of the Sports Commission, hence the public should not deal with them.

The Disclaimer reads: “The attention of the Management of Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC) has been drawn to some individuals who have been parading themselves as Lagos State Athletes soliciting for funds to represent the State at a competition in Calabar, Cross Rivers State.

“This act negates the positive position of the Lagos State Sports Commission in the public domain, and it is in line with the belief, that the Lagos State Sports Commission dissociates itself from such individuals and acts.

“This is a notification to Lagos State Government Officials and the General Public not to associate with such Individuals as the Lagos State Sports Commission is the ONLY Body saddled with the responsibility of running Sports in the State.”
