A 60-year old landlady, Alhaja Saudeen Alao, has landed in prison after she reportedly hired military officers to attack her tenant, forcefully ejected him and rent out the apartment to another person.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at 36 Adegboyega Street in Orisumbare area of Lagos where the evicted tenant, Owoyimiko Adeniyi, had rented an apartment.

It was gathered that Alhaja needed some money and she reportedly perfected plans to send Adeniyi away despite the fact that his rent has not expired in order to bring another tenant who will pay her huge amount of money at once. She was said to have hired unknown soldiers, beat the tenant mercilessly, broke into his apartment, brought out his belongings and rented out the apartment to a new tenant.

However, the matter was reported to the police at Area M Command, Idimu; she was arrested and asked to produce the soldiers but she refused.
The Police then charged her before Ejigbo Magistrates Court for the alleged offence. She pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Inspector G. Simon, did not oppose her being granted bail but asked the Court for a short date for hearing to enable the Police prove the matter.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.K.J. Layeni, granted her bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.

She was remanded in prison custody pending when she will perfect her bail condition. The matter was adjourned till 8th May, 2019.

When P.M.EXPRESS correspondent contacted her, she said she had started refunding tenant’s money but was unable to explain why she brought soldiers to attack and eject him illegally.
