LASPOTECH TO Graduate 9,228 Students At 25th Convocation

The Lagos State Polytechnic will be graduating 9,228 studets across all its school in 2017 convocation ceremony.

Tagged ‘LASPOTECH ALOFT AT 40’, the institution is proud to have the Lagos state governor, Akinwumi Ambode to personally grace the occasion this year..

LASPOTECH, which took off as Lagos State College of Science and Technology (LACOSTECH) in 1977, has invested huge resources in human capacity building through the training and retraining of students, who are today occupying strategic position in all the strata of the national economy, especially in the Media,  Banking, Insurance industry, Engineering, etc.

Mr. Samuel Sogunro, ,The Rector of the institution  revealed that the  exploits of the institution in the provision of excellent and qualitative graduates over the last 40 years, has positioned the polytechnic as the number five polytechnic in the country and number one in Lagos state.

“We will continue to work harder through provision of state-of-the-art facilities and equipment that will make it number one polytechnic of choice in the nation.

“Our vision is to be a ‘Polytechnic  of Excellence’, offering world class  educational services. Our mission is  to produce  skilled  manpower for commerce and industry using modern  facilities  and  competent personnel for the benefit of all” Sogunro declared.

In order to boost the ICT in the institution and placed it above its peers,  Huawei Technologies has donated  60 computers, inverters and a video conference facilities to the Lagos State Polytechnic, Ikorodu.

“There are a lot of graduates out there without jobs. That is why our focus is for the students to use their hands to do things that will profit them not to look for white collar jobs.

“We will place more emphasis on revival of Agriculture issues in the polytechnic with a view to revive the fish and palm oil farming. Reclaim some of our landed property being encroached on illegally by some people, and boost the gari industry. We have  over 12,00 hectares of land  on agriculture and we are partnering with serious farmers to actualise this’’ the Rector enthused with satisfaction.
