Man, 25, Burgles Four Square Gospel Church, Carts Away Musical Equipment

Police operatives from the Isheri Oshun Division have arrested a 25-year old man, Chidiebere Abalobi, who specialised in stealing from churches and residents, after he allegedly burgled a Four Square Gospel Church in Lagos State, carted away musical equipment and escaped.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Owo Odun Street, Ijegun area of Lagos, where the church is located.
The suspect, Abalobi, was said to have been monitoring the church located around his parents house and had been forcefully gaining entrance to steal from the church.
At some point, it became something of serious concern for the management of the church and the community, who then contacted the Police for assistance in order to trap the criminal behind the attacks in the church.
The Police were said to have provided intelligence on how to track the criminal behind the act and it paid off on 8th May, 2022. The suspect was said to have previously broken in the church and came again to steal the remaining church musical instrument but was caught red handed Inside the church.
When he was apprehended, they handed him over to the Police for interrogation and he made confessional statement. He mentioned the buyer of the items he had stolen before. But before the Police could arrest the buyer, he got information about the arrest of the suspect, fled and since then had been on the run.
The suspect, Abalobi was subsequently charged before the Ejigbo Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.
When he was arraigned, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, A.K Dosumu, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in custody pending when he will perfect his bail conditions while the matter was adjourned till June 2022 for mention.
