Man, 35, Arrested for Defiling Girl, 5

Police operatives from Bariga Division, Lagos, have arrested a 35-year old man, Bunmi Adeyemi, who allegedly engaged a 5-year old girl n sex.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Alhaji Alake Street, Bariga area of Lagos, where they reside.

It was gathered that the man lured the victim into an apartment and defiled her in the process. He was eventually caught and handed over to the Police for the alleged offence.
The man, Adeyemi, who is now in detention, is facing charge of defilement which attracts several years of imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty before Court.
This was confirmed by the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana.
He said that on 5th November, 2019, at about 1615 hours, Bariga Police Station arrested one Bunmi Adeyemi ‘m’ 35years of age of No. 8 Alhaji Alake Street, Bariga, for defiling a 5-year old girl (name withheld).
The suspect was arrested by a team of detectives from the Family Support Unit and detained for interrogation where he confessed to the commission of the crime.
DSP Elkana revealed that the victim was taken to Mirabel Centre, Ikeja, for medical treatment and forensic examination and the Command’s Gender Unit has taken over the investigation. He said that the suspect will be charged to Court after the conclusion of investigation.
