Man, 40, Docked For Cutting Off Neighbour’s Limb During Public Brawl

A 40-year old man, Blessing Abass, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly engaging his neighbour, Francis Oriyomi and cutting off his limb during a public brawl. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 21st March, 2024, at Whitesand area of Ijegun, Lagos, where they reside.
The suspect was charged for conduct likely to cause breach of public peace,  assault and wounding the victim under the Criminal Laws of the State.
The Police however, did not state the cause of the fight rather alleged the suspect to have blocked, assaulted and wounded the complainant by cutting his limb with an undisclosed object.
When the matter was reported to the Police at Isheri Oshun Division, the suspect was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
After rounds of interrogation, the Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
He pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.
The prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, K. A. Ariyo, granted him bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 16th April, 2024, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
