Man, 50, Arraigned For Battering Wife During Public Brawl

A 50-year old man, David Olorunsomo, has landed in trouble in Lagos State having displayed his boxing prowess on his wife,  Mrs. Margaret Olorunsomo, by inflicting injury and causing her bodily harm during a public brawl. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 6th June, 2025, at Balogun Erunwen area of Ikorodu, Lagos State, where they reside over an undisclosed issue.
During the fight, Mr. David was said to have displayed his skills on the wife and gave her serious injury before she was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment. The matter was reported to the Police, who moved into action, arrested and detained him at the station for interrogation.
After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ikorodu Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
The prosecutor, Supol Aminu Isaac, told the court that the defendant assaulted his wife, Mrs. Margaret Olorunsomo, by beating and inflicting bodily harm. He said that the alleged offence contravenes provisions of Section 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Chief Magistrate, Mr. B. A. Sonuga, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with a surety in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while address will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 30th June, 2025, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
