A 50-year-old man, Ramoni Seriki, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly defiling his 13-year old daughter by penetrating her private part while she was sleeping.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 18th June,2025 at Obasa Avenue, Ijegun, Lagos, where they reside.

According to the Police, the suspect pounced on the victim while she was sleeping and forcefully engaged her in sex. And having satisfied himself, he warned her not to tell anyone about it.

However, the victim informed her mother and the matter was reported to the Police in the area. The man was arrested and transferred to the Gender Section of the Lagos State Police Command for interrogation.

After thorough interrogation at the Gender Section, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.

The Prosecutor, Supol Adegoke Ademigbuji, told the court that the offence was committed on June 18, 2025, by the defendant, who is a transporter, at his residence.

Supol Ademigbuji said that the defendant sexually molested his 13-year-old daughter while she was sleeping and the victim confided in her mother, who had been separated from her father years ago.

According to him, the offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

The Court did not take his plea following a motion moved by the prosecutor asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.

The Presiding Chief Magistrate, Mrs O. Kusanu, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for advice.

The matter was adjourned till 11th September,2025, for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
