A 54-year old man, Segun  Amogbonjaye, has landed in trouble after he allegedly went to a popular super market in Lagos, picked some food items worth about N10,000 attempted to go home with them but was caught in the process.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that after the suspect, Amogbonjaye, was caught and the items recovered from him, he was then handed over to the Police for prosecution.

The incident happened at a popular Spar Super Market located at Town Planning Way, Ilupeju area of Lagos.

After interrogation, the Police at Ilupeju Division found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court.

The Police alleged that Amogbonjaye went to Spar ssuper Market and stole four sachets of Choco Milo, Dano milk, fresh pepper, tomatoes, ginger root and sanitary pad for his wife before he was caught.

It was gathered that the Spar Management insisted that he must be prosecuted to serve as deterrent to others who might try such in future and thus the Police charged before the Court for the alleged offence.

He denied and pleaded not guilty before the Court.

The prosecutor, Inspector Victor Ewadu, asked the Court to give a date for hearing in order for the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Dauda, granted him bail on liberal terms but he was unable to meet up with the conditions.

He was remanded in Correctional Centre pending when he will perfect his bail conditions while the matter was adjourned till 7th January, 2021.
