Man Arrested With Pistol At Fela’s African Shrine

A man, Damilola Oladipupo has been arrested for allegedly being in possession of a short pistol at Fela’s African Shrine in Lagos.

The incident happened at Agidingbi area of Alausa, Lagos where the New African Shrine was located.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the event at the popular African Shrine was temporarily disrupted after security men discovered the short gun when they embarked on routine check over reasonable suspicion of Oladipupo. It was gathered that he was searched, the gun was discovered and he was subsequently handed over to the police as a suspected criminal. The gun and live ammunitions were recovered as exhibits and kept at the Alausa Police Division.

The police later brought him before Ikeja Magistrates court and arraigned him for unlawful possession of firearms

He pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Inspector Benson Emuehi did not object to his bail, but asked the court to grant him bail in such way that he will come for trial in the interest of justice.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi granted him bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition. The matter was adjourned till 25 June, 2018.
