A 42-year old Chukelu Ebuka has landed in trouble after he reportedly battered his wife, Ogochukwu for asking for money for the feeding of their children after she had denied him sex in the bedroom.

The incident happened at Coconut Avenue, Oko Afo in Badagry area of Lagos where they resided.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the suspect had complained that his wife was stubborn and does not cooperate with him in the house but wanted him to provide money for the family. When the wife therefore asked for the money to buy food to cook for the family, he reportedly grabbed her, beat up and injured her.

The matter was reported to the police; Ebuka was arrested and detained at the police station.

Police sources said that Ebuka admitted that he had no such money to give her because she does not cooperate with him in the house. It was learnt that all efforts to persuade Ebuka to provide money for the family failed. He was said to have asked the police officers if they will provide money for a wife that does not cooperate with the husband in the house, apparently referring to the denial of sex he had complained about.

Ebuka was charged before Ikeja Magistrates court for assault and failure to provide for his family.

He pleaded not guilty.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 26 February, 2018.
