Man Burgles Church To Steal Offering Money

A 20-year old Mohammed Musa who targeted and burgled the Assemblies of God Church to steal the offering money after church service was disappointed after he could only steal N2,000 found inside the church in Lagos.
The incident located at the church branch located at Ilupeju Street in Alagbado area of Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS scooped that Musa had the hope that he would make much money after he monitored the church service during the day. Early in the morning the following day, he broke the church building, searched the whole church including the offering box, found the money and collected it.
However, as Musa did not find much money there, he decided to steal the megaphone speaker worth N120,000 and a gold chain belonging to one Anyanwu Chibueze and escaped.
It was gathered that it was the items that eventually exposed him and he was arrested.
He was detained at the police station to explain how he came about the items. During interrogation, Musa confessed that he went to the church to steal money but when his efforts failed, he stole the items he found there which landed him in trouble.
He was charged before Ogba Magistrates court for stealing.
He pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr T.O. Shomade granted Musa bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum. The prosecutor, Inspector Akeem Raji did not object to his bail condition.
However, the court ordered Musa to be remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 12 March, 2013.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that Musa missed the target because any money realised from the church service was taken away immediately after service.
