Man Sent To Prison For Snapping Police Woman Allegedly Taking Bribe

A 40 year-old man, Chima Ordu has landed in trouble after he was caught taking a picture of a female policewoman on duty allegedly taking bribe from motorists in Isolo area of Lagos.

The incident happened at Oludegun Junction in Isolo where the policewoman usually mount road block for routine check and settlement by motorists daily.

Ordu, who landed in trouble after he reportedly saw some police officers at the junction allegedly extorting money, he then hid somewhere and used his phone to record the video and captured the female officer.

Unknown to Ordu, there were other plain clothes officers who were around to monitor the female officer collecting the money.

While he was busy taking the shots, he was held and arrested and taken to the station from where he was charged to court.

He was charged with obstruction by snapping photo of police officer performing her lawful duty under the Criminal Code.

He pleaded not guilty .

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs J.O.E Adeyemi granted him bail in the sum of police N20,000 with one surety in like sum.

He was remanded in Prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail.

P M. EXPRESS gathered that the police was considering withdrawing the matter from the court due to public condemnation of their action.
