NDDC Commences Payment Of Niger Delta Volunteers Surveillance Scheme

Posted on April 18, 2019

As part of genuine efforts to mitigate restiveness and sustain the relative peace in the Niger Delta region, the Prof. Nelson Braimbraifa-led management team of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, has commenced payment to beneficiaries of the Niger Delta Volunteers Surveillance Scheme.

This is in line with the resolve of the new management team of the Commission to adequately engage the people and consciously improve their economic fortunes through the provision of supplementary sources of income.

The volunteer scheme is one of the several programmes of the Commission designed to meaningfully engage youths and women, serve as auxiliary economic empowerment and check the poverty level in the region.

You would recall that the Acting Executive Director Finance and Administration, EDFA, Dr. Chris Amadi, had on several occasions reiterated that part of the policy thrust of the Prof. Braimbraifa-led management team is to focus on programmes that will enhance the overall well-being of the people of Niger Delta, make them part and parcel of the activities of the Commission and give them a sense of belonging as a way of combating restiveness, poverty and other vices in the region.

“No doubts, the NDDC is in good hands and the people of the Niger Delta region are assured of the Commission’s commitment towards initiating more programmes and projects that will address the infrastructural and economic challenges confronting them” he said.
