Ndigbo Media Forum has acknowledged Bokku’s apology but warned that such unguided comments should not repeat itself in future against Ndigbo.
P.M.EXPRESS reports as was contained in a press statement released by the group and signed by the National Coordinator of the group,  Rev.Paul Eze in Lagos State.
The statement read:
“We the Ndigbo Media Forum, have taken notice of the recent advert by a certain supermarket that suggests buying from their shop to avoid being “cheated” by the Igbo people. We find this kind of marketing tactics unacceptable and divisive”.
“We urge the Bokku and the management of the supermarket to desist from making blanket statements that malign an entire ethnic group. We are not in competition with anyone, and our success is not built on taking advantage of others.”
“While an apology has been rendered, we believe it rings hollow without a genuine commitment to change. The Igbo people have faced numerous challenges and have always emerged stronger through our faith and resilience.”
“We believe in that God who saves and protects us. The same God who saw us through the darkest moments of our history will continue to guide and bless us.”
“As a progressive-minded people we accept your apologies, but note that further divisive advertising tactics will not be tolerated.”
“A repeat of such unnecessary campaign of calumny will prompt us to launch a media campaign against the organization, urging the Igbo people to boycott their products and services.”
“We will not stand idly by while our people are subjected to unfair and discriminatory treatment. We will take steps to protect our community’s dignity and interest.”
“We urge everyone to reject this kind of negativity and instead promote unity and mutual respect. Let’s focus on building each other up, rather than tearing each other down” the NMF stated.
