Nigerians Mourn With Asiwaju Tinubu Over First Son’s Death

Nigerians have started expressing their condolences with Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the loss of his first son, Jide Tinubu who died early hours of Wednesday.

Late Jide, said to be in his late 30s, reportedly slumped and close family members rushed him down to a hospital on Lagos Island where he was confirmed dead on arrival.

Chief Henry Oladele Ajomole, State Chairman APC Lagos confirmed the demise of the younger Tinubu.

“We condole with our indefatigable national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the painful, sad and untimely loss of his beloved son. We pray that Almighty Allah will grant him and the family the fortitude to bear this huge irreparable loss and we pray that may the soul of the faithful departed rest in peace….Adieu,” Ajomale stated in a message to a WhatsApp platform of party members.

“It’s with regrets that we inform Nigerians of the demise of Mr. Jide Tinubu, the Son of Our dear and esteemed Leader, Asiwaju Tinubu. RIP,” APC United Kingdom tweeted.

A family source described the deceased as a “humble, kind hearted, down to earth and affectionate young man”.

He was said to be one of the confidants of the APC leader.

The late Jide was a lawyer of high repute who cut his teeth in the maritime sector and was hardworking and enterprising.

He was a law graduate of the University of Liverpool, England.

He obtained a Masters degree in Maritime Law from the University of London and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1999.

The late lawyer served as Promoter of TSL Limited and also worked in the Legal Department of Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited from January 2000 to September 2001.

Prior to this, he had brief stints with Cargo Maritime in Paris, France, a firm of shipbrokers that specialized in petroleum product tankers, and Ocean and Oil Services Ltd.
