The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has commissioned a 12.1km streetlight Project and connected Ogbe community and Ring Road-axis in Oredo Local Government Area to the 95MW Ossiomo Power Project, as part of the light-up Edo project.

During the commissioning of the project, the governor said with Ogbe Community’s connection to Ossiomo Power, the Independent Power Project (IPP) can now supply steady and uninterrupted electricity to the community, adding that the initiative will boost socio-economic activities in the area.

According to him, the state government has provided stable electricity supply to the commercial area to boost growth of businesses and improve livelihoods.

“After the trading hours, when the traders have closed, this electricity will enable the street sweepers to work easily as they clean the area,” he added.

The Functioning Permanent Secretary, Edo State Ministry of Electricity, Engr. Victor Obanor, said the project is multi-facet that will benefit the people and improve the economy of the area, adding, “Many countries in Africa and Europe have not had their own personal IPP attracted by Governor Obaseki. Lack of power supply has driven away most investors in the country.”

Engr. Osaghae who spoke on behalf of the Ogbe Community expressed appreciation to the governor for his developmental projects in the area assuring him that the community will stand by him in voting for all PDP candidates for the Presidency, Senate, House of Representatives, State House of Assembly.
