Oganiru Ndigbo Socio-Cultural Group Emerges

A socio-cultural group, known as Oganiru Ndigbo, has emerged in Lagos to protect and champion the interest of Igbo men, women and children resident in the State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports as was disclosed by the President General of the association, Chief Louis Ugwu.

Chief Ugwu, who holds the title of Ojeligbo ozi 1 of Alimosho Local Government, Lagos State, explained that the group was formed by the Igbo people who reside in Lagos to pursue a common goal that will enhance the peaceful co-existence among the Igbo and other ethnic groups living with them for prosperity. The office is located at 128 Ikotun Idimu Road by Alake Bus Stop in Ikotun, Lagos.

He said that the vision came having realised the challenges some Igbo people face daily in their homes, shops and offices that they need one form of assistance or the other which may lead to frustration and despair. Hence, the group’s aims and objectives are to offer help to give such people and restore hope and confidence to pursue a common purpose.
“Some people are arrested, detained and sent to prison without any justifiable reason and would need help to get them out; in such instance Oganiru Ndigbo will come in and assist”
“Another instance is a situation where any Igbo person has issue with landlord over rent and genuinely such persons need assistance; as a member of the group, such persons can be assisted pay the rent and equally be aided to start a business” he stated.

He however, noted that the group has no business and dealings with criminal elements and those involved in dubious activities, as the group will not come to their aid or associate with such characters.

Chief Ugwu explained the group will cut across all the 57 Local Council areas in the State as branches working in synergy with the headquarters, and committees will be set up to cater for the welfare of members.
He enjoined the entire Igbo people resident in Lagos to join the group in championing the course in order to promote the Igbo culture of hospitality and being your neighbour’s keeper. He gave the contact phone numbers of the Secretariat and the President as 08023133482 and 08036854146.
