Ogun State Public School Principals Dare Gov Abiodun, Demand School Fees
YUSUF MUHAMMED

Parents of students in Ogun State Public schools are lamenting the imposition of school fees by principals of public schools in the state.
The Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, recently announced free education in Ogun Public schools.
P.M.EXPRESS correspondent gathered that the principal of Unity High School along Agoro Road, Ijoko, Ogun State, had a meeting with parents of the pupils in their school, where they were told to pay the sum of N1,400.00 for Junior High School students and N1900.00 for Senior School students.
One of the aggrieved parents, Mr. Idowu Lekan, frowned at the action of the school management to impose the school levy on them when the State Government had declared free education in public schools in the state.
“What they are demanding from us as parents is illegal because the Governor had declared free education in the state. So who are we paying the money to?” Mr. Lekan queried.
Another parent, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, had two students in the school. He threatened to go to the Ogun State Ministry of Education to find out if the school fees being demanded from the students were from the Ministry.
