The President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State, Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene, escaped assassination attempt after some armed men, suspected to be thugs, trailed him to an Igbo function in Egan area of the State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Chief Aguene went for the chieftaincy coronation organized by the new Chairman of Council of traditional rulers, Eze Lawrence Nnamdi Eze, on Prophetess Adaobi Favour Ojiakor on Saturday and the suspected armed men stormed the venue.
However, by the Divine intervention, just five minutes after Chief Aguene left the venue of the event with his entourage, the armed men reportedly stormed the place.
This was confirmed by Chief Aguene, who expressed shock over the attempts and stated it will not deter him from serving the Igbo with the mandate he was given to lead them.
He disclosed that he has received serious threats since he decided to liberate the Igbo from the cabals, who had held the Igbo in Lagos to ransom over the years and said if he did not dislodge them, the Igbo will remain in perpetual danger in the State.
Chief Aguene stated that there had been threats from one Eze Uche Dimgba, who had earlier mobilized some thugs and invaded Ohanaeze Ndigbo General meeting at Calabar Hall in Surulere to disrupt Ohanaeze meeting in a failed attempt to forcefully remove him. He said it was the same Uche Dimgba that had been threatening, sending voice notes and videos that his thugs would attack and eliminate him wherever he sees him.

P.M.EXPRESS could not confirm if it was Eze Uche Dimgba, who also attended the event after Aguene left the venue, that sent the armed men to the venue ostensibly to attack Aguene.
When our correspondent contacted him through his known phone number, he did not pick his calls.
Aguene explained that the purpose of the press conference was to further to explained to the public why he dissolved the Council of Elders and traditional rulers and constituted another one for allegedly constituting nuisance in Lagos State and to clarify the lies being spread on the social media that he was not the person that created the two councils.
At that point, the Chairman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Political Forum, Chief Chris Ekwilo, explained that It was Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene that created the Council of Traditional rulers and Elders and he has subsequently dissolved them and created another one being headed by Eze Lawrence Nnamdi Eze and Dr. Femi Ferguson respectively.
Ekwilo explained that the Councils were dissolved due to the nuisance they constituted by working against the interest of Ndigbo in Lagos State and consequently it was dissolved and supported by all the members of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in the State.

The man who brought the waring factions of Ohanaeze Ndigbo under Chief Solomon, Col. Nwakor, explained that the Igbo were in full support for Chief Solomon Aguene as the President of Ohanaeze Lagos State.
He explained that he was part of one of the factions during the struggle but when he realized the good spirit of Aguene and humility, he stepped down and encouraged all to embrace peace.
Nwakor explained that he was happy that Chief Solomon Aguene did not disappoint the Igbo and that was why he has many supporters following him because of his leadership qualities.
The former President of Ohanaeze, Dr Femi Ferguson, stated that Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene did not extend his tenure in office as President of Ohanaeze against insinuation by some people.
He explained that he was a party to the suit with two other persons, who went to the High Court over the cancellation of their election by Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, which conducted another election and Aguene emerged in 2018.
He explained that Aguene was joined in the suit but he called for peace, which led to the Consent Judgment that led to his emergence as the accepted President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State.
He said that he supported Aguene because he has brought some innovation to Ohanaeze and touched the lives of many members through his contacts and that is why Ndigbo are following him in Lagos State.
