ONC Congratulates Prof. Ureh Annabel Oparaodu On Emergence As Rivers NMA Chairman

The Orashi National Congress, ONC, a notable Niger Delta socio-cultural group, has congratulated renowned Ear, Nose and Throat specialist, Prof. Ureh Annabel Oparaodu, on her election as Chairman of the Rivers State Branch of the Nigeria Medical Association, NMA.

 

In a congratulatory message signed by the President General of the Congress, Ambassador Comrade Emeni Ibe, JP, AP, the ONC described Prof. Oparaodu’s victory as well-deserved and a testament to her years of service and excellence in the medical profession.

 

“We use this medium to congratulate you, Prof. Oparaodu, on your emergence as the newly elected Chairman of the Rivers State Branch of the Nigeria Medical Association,” the statement read.

The Congress highlighted Prof. Oparaodu’s record of firsts and distinguished service to the health sector.

According to ONC, “it is on record that you are the 1st female doctor from Rivers State to attain a Fellowship in Otorhinolaryngology, West African College of Surgeons. You are also the first female President of the Association of Resident Doctors, South-South Region, Nigeria.”

The group further noted that Prof. Oparaodu has been recognized with several honours, including “Leading Women in Rivers State” by the Port Harcourt Business and People’s Award Organisation, as well as a Fellowship from the Institute of Policy Management and Development.

 

“Your uncommon strides in the medical field are there for all to see,” the Congress stated.

 

Prof. Oparaodu won the recent NMA Rivers State Branch election with over a thousand votes, defeating her opponent, Dr. Alexander Woke.

“On behalf of the Orashi National Congress, I say a big congratulations to Prof. Dr. Ureh Annabel Oparaodu as she wins the recent Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) Rivers State Branch election,” Amb. Emeni Ibe said.

 

The ONC expressed optimism that Prof. Oparaodu’s leadership will bring renewed energy, unity, and advocacy to the medical profession in Rivers State, especially at a time when healthcare delivery faces numerous challenges.

The Congress wished the new NMA Chairman a successful tenure and pledged its support for initiatives aimed at improving healthcare and the welfare of medical professionals in the state.
