Operation Puff Adder Operatives Arrest Notorious Robbery Syndicate, Recover Firearm

Following the flag off of Operation Puff Adder in Onitsha by the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Mustapha Dandaura, Police operatives attached to Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) and Operation “Puff Adder” in conjunction with the local vigilante, arrested notorious robbery syndicate at Upper Iweka Onitsha.
According to SP Haruna Mohammed, PPRO Anambra State Police Command, on 14th May, 2019, at about 6:30am, the suspects Ugwuanyi Ifeanyi, 21, and Sopulu Ugwoma, 22, were picked up by police operatives. He said that the suspects, who hailed from Nsukka, Enugu State, were among the hoodlums terrorising Upper Iweka and Owerri Road axis of Onitsha.
Recovered from them was a single barrel fabricated short gun which was kept by the police as exhibit. The Police Spokesman said that the case is still under investigation after which suspects will be charged to Court for prosecution.
It would be recalled that on 9th May, 2019, the Anambra Police Command had mobilized personnel and logistics to Upper Iweka to curtail the menace of robbery and handbags snatching syndicates in the area through Operation Puff Adder and the arrest of the suspects showed that the move has started yielding result.
