Operatives of Operation Crush Arrest 26 Cultists in Bariga & Oworonshoki

The Police appeared to be working to expectations over the menace of cult activities in Lagos following the arrested of 26 cult members causing violence in some areas in the State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that following the violent clash between members of two rival cult groups in Bariga and Oworonshoki areas on 21st July, 2019, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Zubairu Muazu, ordered the immediate deployment of operatives of ‘Operation Crush’ to the two communities to restore peace in the areas.
It was learnt that the Police boss gave mandate to the officers to identify, isolate and apprehend the leaders and members of the gangs and cult groups disturbing the peace of the area.
The operation paid off; the suspects were raided, arrested and are now in Police custody.
This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, who also revealed that assorted weapons were recovered from the suspects as exhibits and kept at the Command.
DSP Elkana said that the success was achieved based on credible intelligence; the 26 suspects were arrested within 5days and assorted weapons were recovered from them in different areas. He said that the suspects will all be charged to Court to face the full weight of the law.
The spokesman expressed the determination of the Police Command to curtail the activities of cultists and said that the onslaught was ongoing until they are totally defeated.
P.M.EXPRESS investigation revealed that the residents of Bariga and Oworonshoki had not known peace over the activities of the various cult groups terrorising and causing violence, which led to clashes among the groups before the Police moved in and made some arrest while some of their members fled and were said to be at large.
