Peter Gana Bags UN Award

The officer in charge of Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad in Lagos State, CSP Peter Gana, has been conferred with the United Nations Millennium Achievement Leadership Merit Award.

The award was conferred on him by the UN Youth Peace Initiative and Human Rights in conjunction with City Express Magazine on 31st January, 2019, in Lagos.

Presenting the award, the publisher of City Express, Barr. Sunny Ebhojiaye, stated that CSP Gana was nominated for the merit award for his sterling qualities as the most intelligent, credible, courageous, vibrant, disciplined and best overall police crime buster of the year 2018.

This was indeed confirmed by the Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria by also confering an award on him for that feat. He said that the organization celebrate the positive achievers who have contributed immensely to the growth of professionalism in Nigeria, so that the achievers can be role models for youths that are dreaming of becoming achievers wherever in the world.

The award did not come as a surprise to many who have known CSP Gana since he joined the Nigeria Police Force, as he had overtime displayed professionalism which made him to rise to the rank of CSP and became the officer in charge of FSARS, Lagos State.
CSP Gana has busted many criminal hideouts and arrested notorious armed robbers and kidnappers which helped curb crimes in Lagos State to the barest minimium.

How was Gana able to achieve the feats? He was said to have achieved so much simply by genuine commitment and application of humility, intelligence, organisation and good leadership capability. Gana believes so much in discipline and sticking to the rules of engagement in carrying out responsibilities as a super crime officer.
The award ceremony witnessed the presence of the President of Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria, CRAN, Mr. Sunday Odita, four beauty queens comprising Miss Nigeria Independence, ECOWAS/Hospitality, Miss Delta and Miss Photogenic and other dignitories.

P.M.EXPRESS findings revealed that Gana has greatly transformed the FSARS by instilling discipline in the officers with strict compliance to the rules of engagement. He has ensured that all the officers do wear their uniforms as directed by the IGP in his reorganization bid. So far, the era of brutal torture and extortion has become a thing of past because he had emphasised his preparedness to deal with any officer caught in any form of indiscipline.

Gana was equipped before he joined the Nigeria Police having attended both primary and secondary schools before proceeding to the higher institutions of learning. The crime buster is a graduate of Mathematics Education and Political Science from two prestigious universities in Nigeria – ABU and UniAbuja respectively.
Mr. Gana got enlisted in the Nigeria Police on 25th June, 1994, as a Cadet Inspector and was posted to Kabba Division, Kogi State in 1996. In 1997, he was moved to Anti-Robbery Squad, Zone 8, Lokoja, and from there to Federal Highway Patrol as Inspector Admin (1998-2001). He was PA to CP Federal Highway Patrol (2001-2003), PA to Commissioner of Police in Plateau State (2003-2004). Mr. Gana from there had been Personal Assistant to CP FIB (2004-2005), Personal Assistant to CP Ondo State (2005-2006), Divisional Crime Officer, Ore Division (2006-2008), Divisional Crime Officer, Enuowa Division (2009-2010), Personal Assistant to Commandant, Police Staff College, Jos, (2010-2012), Personal Assistant to AIG, Zone 2, Onikan (2012), Team Leader SARS Ikeja, 2i/c SARS Ikeja (2012-2014), OC SARS, Zone 2, Onikan (2014-2016), Officer-in-Charge Eagle Crack Squad, Port Harcourt (2016-2017), Operations Officer, IGP Special Tactical Squad, Abuja (2017-2018), before his deployment as Officer-in-Charge FSARS, Ikeja, Lagos, having worked in different capacities in several places.

P.M.EXPRESS concludes that the UN award is certainly an award befitting of Gana’s sterling qualities and achievements in the bid to rid the society of crimes and criminal elements.
