Police Arrests Woman For Keeping Stolen Items For Armed Robbers

A 28-year old woman, Mrs. Funmilayo Safiyat has been arrested by the police for receiving and safe keeping of stolen items for armed robbers after their operations in Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the lady, Mrs. Safiyat nicknamed mama robbers was arrested along with other members of her gang, namely Wasiu Adam, 20, Rashidi Yekini, 23, Afeez Adeola, 20 and Babatunde Ibrahim.
The police gave the names of the other suspects arrested as Mr Riwan Mohammed, 24, Idowu Agboola, 22, Mohammed Abubaka, 21 and Emmanuel Joseph, 24.
The police also recovered various arms, ammunition and some items in their hide out. The items included locally made pistol, English double barreled gun cut to size, live ammunition, operational Bajaj motorcycle with registration number, AKN386QF and substances suspected to be Indian hemp.
The arrest was confirmed by the Lagos Commissioner of Police, CP Imohimi Edgal at the State Command, Ikeja, Lagos.
The police boss said that based on credible information received, a team of raider operatives of SCIID Panti led by ASP Joseph Akingbaji arrested the suspects who had for long been terrorising the Ojo and Okokomaiko residents and its environs until the police got the information on their activities.
He said the suspects were rounded up in their hideout within Ajangbadi and Okokomaiko area and the items were recovered from them as exhibits.
CP Edgal said that it was during the interrogations that Mrs. Safiyat and Abubakar were mentioned as the receivers of stolen items which the suspects confirmed at the Command. Edgal said that the suspects will be charged to court accordingly while the police will continue to make efforts to arrest other members of the gang now at large.
