Operatives from the Lagos State Police Command have arrested six suspected members of a notorious criminal gang during a routine patrol, recovering firearms, ammunition and a suspected stolen vehicle during the operation.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspects were identified as Yakubu Oke (48), Teslim Balogun (33), Emmanuel Osas (33), Joseph Abah (34), Idris Adewunmi (32), and Opeyemi Kolawole (28)  and were apprehended on 29th May, 2025, by operatives of the Command.

This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the arrest and detention of the suspects undergoing investigation at the State Command.

According to the Police Image maker,  the suspects were arrested during a routine monitoring and they failed to provide satisfactory identification or explain their movements when questioned, raising immediate suspicion.

The Police conducted a thorough search, which led to the recovery of two locally fabricated pistols, 16 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 17 live cartridges, and an unregistered 1999 Toyota Camry believed to have been stolen.

“Further investigations revealed that the suspects were linked to a gang previously listed on the Police watchlist for multiple criminal activities across the state.”

“The suspects are currently cooperating with investigators and have provided useful information to help uncover additional leads and identify accomplices.”

“Investigations are ongoing as the Command intensifies efforts to ensure that all criminal elements are brought to justice. Upon conclusion of the investigation, the suspects will be charged in court accordingly,” Hundeyin said.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to tackling crime and safeguarding the lives and property of Lagos residents.

He also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest Police station.

CP Jimoh assured residents that the Command remains fully dedicated to protecting lives and property and to upholding peace and security throughout the state.
