LUCKY LAWAL

Undercover police officers attached to Badagry Division of the Lagos State Police Command has foiled the attempt of some robbers to rob an innocent passenger of her goods.
The suspects whose names were given as 47-year old Awusu Olusegun and 52-year old Adeosun, were arrested alongside the vehicle in which they operated – a grey coloured Mazda 323 saloon car with registration number KTU 356 CE.
According to the report given by the Police Public Relations Officer, Chike Oti, the incident happened on Saturday February 25, 2018, at about 7:30am at AP filling station, Aradagun, along Lagos /Badagry Expressway. Two traffic robbers popularly known as ‘one chance robbers’ were arrested after their attempt to rob a lady of her goods was foiled. Awusu Olusegun was the driver of the cab while Adeosun posed as a passenger. Thus they deceived the victim into boarding the car believing they were honourable men unknown to her that they were criminals.
As the journey progressed, they began to harass the victim and so she raised alarm which attracted people to her plight. Sensing that the woman’s screaming would cause them problems, they pushed her off the car while in motion. The woman sustained injuries as a result and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment. Meanwhile people who heard the woman’s cry for help among whom were police undercover operatives, pursued the robbers until the fleeing driver lost control of the car and fell into a ditch.
The Divisional Police Officer of Badagry Division was called in, he arrived the scene and arrested the suspects. The robbers’ car and the victim’s goods comprising of bags of rice and other wares were recovered and taken to the police station.
According to the PPRO, SP Chike Oti, “investigation into the matter is in progress and further development would be made public. The Command wishes to use this medium to advise Lagosians to board commercial vehicles at approved motor parks only to avoid falling into the evil hands of unscrupulous elements in the society”.
