There was confusion in a popular hotel in Lagos after some operatives of the FSARS attached to Ikotun Division stormed the place. They were said to have attacked both the staff and customers and disposed them of their valuables including money.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on Wednesday at about 1am at the popular Don CY Hotelz and Suites, located at Governor’s Road in the Ikotun area of Lagos.

The owner of the hotel, Ambassador Ezewele Cyril, described what happened as a pure case of armed robbery because they were armed and used violence on the victims as they forcefully collected their valuables. He said that when he got the information, initially he had thought that robbers invaded the hotel and robbed people there until he went there and he was told that they were police officers from Ikotun Division.

Mr John (one of the hotel’s staff attacked)

Some of the staff attacked during the mayhem, Mr. Emmanuel John, Enahoro Emmanuel and a customer, one Tajudeen Raji, narrated their ugly experiences to P.M.EXPRESS correspondent.
Mr. John said that they were in front of the hotel and were about to eat when the team came to the place, attacked, threw him on the ground and collected all the money he had on him before bundling him into a bus. He said that having suppressed him, they went after Mr. Enahoro and gave him serious beating before moving him into the same bus. They were said to have stripped Mr. Raji naked after beating him and took all of them to the police station.

When our correspondent visited the station, the hotel staff and their customer were detained at the police station and the police alleged that the victims had attacked them during their routine patrols in the area over a robbery incident.
The DPO declined to speak on the matter and attempted to make damage control to pacify the owner of the hotel when our reporter left the police station.

However, P.M.EXPRESS scooped that the police got information that there was a robbery incident and that the robbers escaped with a tricycle. As the officers were patrolling along the road, they saw Mr. Raji’s tricycle in front of the hotel and stopped. They then arrested him and when the staff came out to explain to the police officers, they were attacked and taken to the police station as suspects.

Ambassador Ezewele Cyril, who is the author of the book called “The enemy called corruption”  said that he was still shocked over the incident, had reported the matter to the police authorities and was waiting for their response before he will consider the option of going to court.
