Police, Robbers In Fierce Gun Battle

It was a fierce gun battle between the Igando Police Division led by the DPO, SP Taiwo Kasumu, and dare devil armed bandits as police repelled the attack of the robbers.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the battle lasted for several hours on Sunday but at the end the police foiled their operation. The robbers fled abandoning their arms and operational Honda Pilot SUV with registration number LSR 291ER belonging yet to be known owner.

The incident happened at Oko Ofili Bus Stop where the robbers went and robbed some residents in the estate.

It was gathered that the robbers had invaded the estate and robbed with their arms from one house to another dispossessing the innocent residents of their valuables.
However, the DPO who was still in the office around 2am, got informed about the operation, mobilized other officers and personally led the operation. It was gathered that when the robbers saw the police team, they opened fire on them but the police resisted the attack. When robbers saw the higher fire power of the police, they escaped with gun shots. The incident attracted commendation from residents who narrated what really happened on that day.

When our correspondent visited Igando Police Division to speak with the DPO, he was told that the DPO went to the State Command for CP’s briefing. However, police sources confirmed the operation and the efforts made by the police at the Division. The recovered Honda SUV was still parked at the police station as exhibit while efforts were being made to arrest the suspects who were said to have escaped with gunshot injuries.
Meanwhile, the investigation has been taken over by the Operatives of FSARS to trap the suspects as P.M.EXPRESS gathered at the State Command.
