The war against bandits in Lagos State is gaining momentum on daily basis since the Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, took charge of the Command.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that Police operatives from Ipaja Division led by CSP Tokunbo Abaniwonda recently smashed a car robbery syndicate, who went to the Methodist Church in Ipaja area of Lagos, stole a Toyota Corolla car and escaped during service.

It was gathered that when the information got to the DPO, CSP Abaniwonda, she quickly mobilised his officers, tracked the robbers to Ogun State and the operation paid off. Apart from recovering the Toyota Corolla car, two of the suspects namely Bamidele Adebayo and Hakeem Taofik, were arrested and brought back to Lagos.
It was gathered that the bandits stole the vehicle from the Church, removed the plate number and tracking device installed in the vehicle and had started contacting buyers before the team of Police officers stormed the place.
The Police also recovered some of the equipment which they used to disconnect any device installed inside their targeted vehicle before they stole.
This was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, who said the suspects were in Police custody. He explained that it was a remarkable breakthrough by the Commissioner of Police through his officers at Ipaja Division.
He explained that the Toyota Corolla Saloon car was removed from the park at the Church in Shagari Estate area of Ipaja at about 1pm on that day. He said when the Police received the report, the officers went into action and eventually recovered the vehicle at Ijagba village in Sango Ota after Obasanjo Farm in Ogun State. He said that the suspects were arrested; the vehicle was recovered and parked at the station as exhibit.

DSP Bala Elkana said investigation was ongoing to arrest other members of the syndicate now at large, adding that the suspects will be charged to Court after the conclusion of investigation.
