Policeman Battered While Attempting To Rescue Victim

It was unpleasant experience for a police corporal, CPL Adegoroye Rotimi who went to rescued a victim of attack, one Balogun Sunday and nearly put his life on the line in Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Rotimi was battered and seriously injured in the process at Shasha area of Lagos.
Two of the attackers, Friday Awara, 36 and Arinze Egbe have been arrested in respect of the alleged assault.
It was gathered that trouble started when Rotimi who was on official duty at Isiwo Police pin down point at Shasha, saw a commercial bus driver, Balogun Sunday being seriously attacked. The suspects and others at large believed that Rotimi wanted to use the opportunity to arrest and extort money from them. And so they descended on Rotimi as he came over, attacked and brutalised him.
However, the victim managed to escape, went back to the police station and reported what happened to him. It was gathered that other officers at the station mobilised, arrested the two suspects and brought them to the police station.
At the police station, the suspects were said to have reacted violently and attacked another Police Sergeant, Mr. Inah Monday.
They were later charged for assault and brought before the Ejigbo Magistrates court for the alleged offence.
They pleaded not guilty.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. T.O. Shomade granted them bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The prosecutor, Supol Kenneth Asibor did not oppose their bail.
They were remanded in prison custody pending when they will perfect their bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 16 May, 2018.
