President Tinubu Approves Indefinite Suspension Of EFCC Boss, Bawa

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the indefinite suspension from office of Mr. AbdulRasheed Bawa, as the Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

In a statement by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the President ordered Bawa’s suspension to allow for proper investigation into his conduct while in office.

There have been many weighty allegations against the anti-corruption Czar, including an allegation by the former governor of Zamfara, Bello Matawalle.

He claimed that Bawa demanded $2million dollars from him and that he had the man on tape..

There have also been weighty allegations of abuse of office levelled against him.

Willie Bassey, Director of Information said Bawa has been directed to immediately handover the affairs of his office to the Director, Operations in the Commission.

The director will oversee the affairs of the Office of the Chairman of the Commission pending the conclusion of the investigation.
