The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Thursday, urged the entire members of the State Public Service to rededicate themselves to providing excellent service delivery in line with the demands of the populace and conformity with the high standards of the 21st Century.

The call was contained in his address delivered at the 2019 Long Service Merit Award ceremony, held at Adeyemi-Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja, where over 1,000 public servants were recognised on account of their length of service and contributions to the development of Lagos State.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, who was represented at the event by the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Sherifat Folashade Jaji said the occasion was an opportunity for the government to acknowledge and recognise those who have dedicated most part of their productive years to the service of the people.

“I congratulate you all and say a big thank you to all of you that are being celebrated today. This occasion is no doubt a day of reflection and giving gratitude to God for the grace to be alive and recognised for unblemished record of service”, Governor Sanwo-Olu said.

He reassured workers that his administration recognised the need to pay utmost attention to issues of welfare and capacity development as being crucial to the building of a 21st-century economy, stressing that the state government was committed to their training and retraining as well as developing innovative ideas to promote staff welfare.

“While congratulating the awardees of this year’s long service award, I enjoin the entire members of the Lagos State Public Service to rededicate themselves to providing excellent service delivery in line with the demands of the people and the standard of the 21st century”, he said.

In his remark, the Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola explained that the objective of the award is to further encourage diligence, commitment and loyalty amongst public servants in Lagos State in anticipation that the award will spur them to continue to put in their best in the service of the state.

“I sincerely congratulate and rejoice with the 1,000 proud recipients of today’s awards and their relations here present not only for the grace of the Almighty God which saw them through the last 30 years in the service of our dear state in good health but also for their dedication, diligence, loyalty and invaluable contribution to the state public service”, Muri-Okunola said.
