Rivers CP Reaches Out To Police Widows On Valentine’s Day

The Commissioner of Police Rivers State Police Command, CP Olatunji R. Disu, Psc, has reached out to over 200 widows of late Police Officers Wives in the State with food items, rice and undisclosed amount of money to each of them.
He stated that it was a special event organized by the Command to celebrate with wives of late Police Officers (LAPOWA), as part of Valentine’s Day Celebration, stressing that the widows were representing the interest of the Police in taking care of the children left behind by their late husbands, and prayed for the Almighty God to continue to remember and guide them.
Mrs. Disu Mutiat Olufunmilola, the Chairperson of Police Officers Wives Association (POWA), also expressed gratitude to God Almighty for the enablement to show love to LAPOWA on this special day, considering the roles their late husbands played in the fight for a better Policing while alive.
“Valentine is not for our spouse alone but to extend it to our loved ones” she said.
The CP and his management team have instructed Divisional Police Officers (DPO’s) to always support and give the needed protections for the sake of encouraging them.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu, averred further that the event was an initiative of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, Ph.D, NPM, who directed that the late Police Officers Wives should be carried along and that informed the decision of the celebrations yesterday.
The coordinator of Late Police Officers Wives (LAPOWA) Mrs. Josephine Okafor, in emotion laden words said that it was the first of its kind, where widows are celebrated and remembered for good.
As one of the beneficiaries, she expressed gratitude to the State Commissioner of Police and added that the gesture has impacted greatly on them and prayed God to keep the Commissioner and his men for greater achievement.
