Street Level Movement – a grassroots mobilization initiative, was on Saturday November 3, 2018, inaugurated in Lagos in support of the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.

The event which took place at the hall within the APTECH Building on Ikorodu Road, Idi-Iroko Bus Stop, was put together by a coalition of Lagosians known as Sanwo-Olu Direct from different walks of life and from all the Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas of Lagos State.

In his introductory speech at the event, the Coordinator of the Movement, Mr. Ademola Adewusi, stated that the coalition is a strategic grassroots team which is independently governed and positioned to complement the activities of the Babajide Sanwo-Olu Campaign Organization (BOSCO) in ensuring victory for a competent and eminently qualified candidate.

In the same vein, Mr. Olalekan Oni, Director, Media and Publicity of the group, explained that the grassroots movement cut across all socio-economic strata: entrepreneurs, professionals and upwardly mobile individuals. Mr. Oni said that ‘Sanwo-Olu Direct’’ is focused on taking the message of good governance, preached by the aspirant from door-to-door; across all the five divisions in the state with the aim of endearing the candidature of Mr. Sanwo-Olu to everyone in Lagos State.

There was also an interactive session during which members asked questions, made suggestions and proffered solutions to myriad of issues about the development of the state which they hoped to pass on to the gubernatorial candidate.

Before the event was rounded up, the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, spoke to the huge crowd that gathered for the inauguration of the Street Level Movement. Mr. Sanwo-Olu used the opportunity to throw some light on his journey in the public and private sectors and how he will bring the experiences gathered over the years to bear in the governance of Lagos State when elected into office. He also thanked the organisers and coordinators of the Street Level Movement for their effort and commitment to sell his candidature to the grassroots and promised to hit the ground running once elected.

Highlight of the inauguration was the exchanging of pleasantries with members of group and attendees by Mr. Sanwo-Olu and a group photograph.

It would be recalled that Mr. Sanwo-Olu got the endorsement of all political stakeholders in the state to emerge as the flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming gubernatorial elections. Prior to his emergence as candidate of the APC, he has held various offices in the private and public sectors of the state since 1999. It is also on record that he was a member of the team that put together the Lagos State Developmental Master Plan amongst many other projects that had transformed the state.
