Why We’re Organising Radio Lagos/EKO FM Building Expo 2021 – Adumadeyin

The need to create a veritable base for robust relationship between stakeholders has been identified as one of the reasons for organising Radio Lagos/EKO FM Building Expo 2021.


The Expo, the first of its kind in Nigeria, is being organised by Lagos State’s foremost and official Radio Stations, Radio Lagos/EKO FM. 


P.M. EXPRESS reports that the event will begin on Monday, 29 March and run through 11 April, 2021 at the Radio Lagos/Eko FM Arena on Lateef Jakande Road, Agidingbi, Ikeja.


Chairman of the Planning Committee of the Expo, Mr. Kayode Adumadeyin, who is also Deputy Director, Marketing of the broadcast station, told P.M. EXPRESS that the situation in the building industry in Nigeria has called for a platform like the one the Building Expo 2021 will create so that stakeholders will have an opportunity to come together under one roof to look at the challenges the sector is facing in terms of technology advancement in the industry worldwide, exchange of ideas during B2B sessions, exhibition of latest trends in building materials technology, interior decor, documentations in terms of getting genuine land acquisition and others.

More importantly, according to Adumadeyin, the expo is being staged to sustain the T.H.E.M.E.S. agenda  in Housing of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.He said that companies within the industry will be on ground to exhibit their products, while others will come to provide their services. He disclosed that because of the need to adhere to COVID-19 protocols, 10 exhibitors will be allowed during this first edition, while there is plan to enlarge the scope and organisation of the expo in the future.


To make the Building Expo 2021 more inclusive in order for all participants to get the best out of the event, the organisers are partnering with a good number of ministries and agencies of the Lagos State Government which include Lagos State Ministry of Housing, Lagos State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Lagos State Urban Renewal Authority,  New Town Development Authority, Office of Surveyor General, Lagos State Lands Bureau, Lagos State Mortgage Board, Lagos State Materials Testing Laboratory, Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority, Lagos State Building Control Agency and Lagos State Emergency Management Agency amongst others.


The Expo will be flagged off with an opening ceremony on 29 March, 2021 by 10am prompt under the chairmanship of Dr. Oluwafemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu. The opening day will see Engr. (Dr.) Oyelade, a Civil and Environmental Engineer from the University of Lagos delivering a lecture titled: “Building Materials in Lagos State: Access and Assessment.”
