How Woman Used Hammer To Smash House Maid’s Head

A 32-year old woman, Chinonye Michael, has landed in trouble after she reportedly used a hammer to hit the head of her 11-year old house maid, Miss Gift Michael, in Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at No. 39 Idowu Ogunde Street, Iwaya area of Yaba, Lagos, where they reside.

It was gathered that Chinonye brought the victim to Lagos as a house help and had lived with her before the incident happened on 28th July, 2019.

The victim was said to have committed an undisclosed offence which angered Chinonye. She was said to have hit her first with a turning stick but not satisfied with that she then brought a hammer and hit her on the head. The 11-year old victim was said to have bled profusely and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital, where the assault was eventually exposed.
The victim was said to have revealed what happened to her and one of their neighbours informed the Police. Chinonye was then arrested and detained at the Police Station. The matter was later transferred to the Gender Section of the Police Command, where Chinonye was found culpable after interrogation. She was later charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for assault.
She pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Supol Benson Emerhi, asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O Sule-Amzat, granted her bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She was remanded in prison custody pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
It was gathered that the victim was rescued and kept in protective centre pending when she will be released to her parents.
The matter was adjourned till 30th September, 2019.
