Onyeagocha Blasts Imo Lawmakers For Voting Against Financial Autonomy For Legislature, Judiciary & Local Governments

Posted on January 21, 2023
The PDP Candidate for Imo East Senatorial District, Hon. Barr. Uche Onyeagocha, strongly condemned Imo Lawmakers for voting against the proposed financial autonomy for the legislature, judiciary and Local Governments.
According to Onyeagocha, the lawmakers who voted against financial autonomy of legislature and judiciary, as listed below acted in bad faith; Hon. Eddy Obinna,
Hon. Samuel Otuibe,
Hon. Emeka Nduka,
Hon. Arthur Egwim,
Hon. Johnson Duru,
Hon. Michael Onyemaechi, Hon. Uche Ogbuagu,
Hon. Chiji Collins-Isiala,
 Hon. Ngozi Obiefule,
Hon. Uju Onwudiwe,
 Hon. Obinna Okwara,
Hon. Chyna Iwuanyanwu,
 Hon. Kennedy Ibe,
Hon. Hecleus Okoro,
 Hon. Chigozie Ogbunikpa,
 Hon. Paul Emeziem,
 Hon. Ekene Nnodimele,
Hon. Chigozie Nwaneri,
Hon. Dominic Ezerioha, Hon. Kanayo Onyemachi.
Hon. Onyeagocha described their action as disgusting, unacceptable and highly condemnable. The PDP Senatorial candidate made his displeasure known in a statement signed by Prince MacDonald Enwere, Special Assistant on Media.
He said, “Imolites were highly bewildered and thoroughly embarrassed for such despicable display of insensitivity by these lawmakers, who boldly voted against the financial autonomy of legislature, judiciary and Local Governments”.
“It is unfortunate and ludicrous that the legislators, who supposed to be the boldest brand of our representative  democracy, have turned themselves into proponents of anti-people policies, even against themselves.
They should be ashamed of themselves for allowing the Governor to continue to use them as his string-puppets against the general interest of the people. For denying the judiciary financial independence, it confirms  that Governor Uzodinma wants to continue to manipulate the course of justice in the state through the legislature.”
Hon. Onyeagocha urged the people to ensure that all the  lawmakers, who are opposed to financial autonomy of the  legislature and the judiciary are voted out in the forthcoming general elections as they do not deserve to represent the people any more.
“We won’t fail to applaud and commend the dexterity and audacity of Hon. Philip Ejiogu, Hon. Anyadike Nwosu, Hon Frank Ugboma, Hon. Solomon Anukam, and Hon. Pascal Okolie for  bracing all odds and standing out in defending the yearnings and aspirations of the people by endorsing and voting for financial autonomy of legislature, judiciary and Local Governments” he concluded.
