In a bid to boost economic activities and ensure a conducive trading environment, Hon. Rex Anunobi, Imo State Commissioner for Trade, Commerce, and Investment, embarked on a tour of the Naze Market Cluster in Owerri.
During the tour, the Commissioner addressed pressing issues within the market union, resolving contentious matters and fostering a sense of unity among the traders.
However, Honourable Anunobi expressed concern over the poor sanitation habits and inadequate waste evacuation in the market, including the Free Market Zone. He decried the unsavoury conditions, emphasizing the need for a clean and healthy environment for traders and customers alike.
To address this challenge, the Commissioner instructed the market manager to immediately contact the Imo State Waste Management Agency for proper and regular waste disposal in the market. This directive aims to ensure a clean and sanitary environment, promoting the well-being of all market users.
Honourable Anunobi’s proactive approach demonstrates his commitment to transforming Imo State’s markets into thriving economic hubs. By tackling the challenges faced by traders and stakeholders, the Commissioner is poised to revitalize the state’s commerce sector, fostering growth and prosperity for all.
The tour and subsequent directives have been welcomed by traders who expressed gratitude for the Commissioner’s dedication to their welfare and the development of Imo State’s markets.
