The Youth Leader of the Igbo Speaking Community, Lagos State, Chief Okey Uzuegbunam, has stated that Chief Sunday Udeh has no constitutional right to crown Obi Ndigbo of Lagos and therefore, the purported certificate of the Obi title, which he gave to Chief Chibuike Azubuike was null and viod and both should face the consequences of their illegality.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Chief Okey Uzuegbunam stated this at the weekend over circulating comments made against Chief Sunday Udeh by Obi Ndigbo of Lagos, Chief Chibuike Azubuike, describing Udeh as a man that lacks integrity as he betrayed and claimed that he does not know Azubuike when the matter got to the Police.
The Youth Leader said, “Chief Sunday Udeh cannot come to the Police and admit that he gave him a certificate without proper procedures and installation, as he (Azubuike) expected him to do when he must have realized that his giving the certificate was illegal”.
“The Police station is not a village meeting, where people can open their mouth and say anything, when you must have been told that everything you said there will be taken against you in the Court of Law.”
Chief Udeh has been silent on why he issued certificate to Obi Ndigbo of Lagos contrary to the Constitution of the Igbo Speaking Community.
Chief Uzuegbunam narrated what transpired before Chief Udeh crowned and gave the certificate to Chief Azubuike.
“Let’s be honest to ourselves. Ignorance they say is not an excuse before the law and that Chief Azubuike chose to be ignorant should not be an excuse for his predicament.”
“Earlier, I took my time to advise him on how to go about it, but he chose to take the fast lane and ignored my wise counsel. When you talk about the Igbo Speaking Community in Lagos, I’m the chairman of Ikotun and Igando LCDA where Azubuike resides.”
“But he skipped my office and went to meet Chief Sunday Udeh at the State to come and give him a certificate, because I told him earlier that the Igbo Speaking Community as an entity does not have the constitutional right to crown or install such a title like Obi, that it is in the position of the Ezes to install Obi in their communities.”
“But because some people do not like to do things in the right procedure, he went and conspired with Martin Nwaodika and they went ahead to get a certificate from Sunday Udeh. Does a certificate alone give you warrant to become Obi Ndigbo of Lagos without due consultation and processes?, the answer is No.”
“Now, the question is, when and where did the installation of such a position take place? Who and who in Lagos was aware that such a position that has not been in existence before now was being caved out if indeed you understand the pedigree of that position in Lagos State? Let us stop escalating issues that we ought to blame ourselves on another person.”
“As his Local Government chairman of the Igbo Speaking Community in Lagos State, I was not informed on the day the certificate was given, and giving a certificate does not mean coronation. So, where and when did the coronation take place in Lagos? Like it was stated that the community recommended him, now I ask who and which community did so?”
“Because I advised him earlier that we as Igbo Speaking Community cannot install such a position, that we can only give him a recommendation letter and then back him up after due processes have been done. But he dumped us as his immediate community and went ahead to the State and acquired a certificate. But now, he is laying blame on the person that accepted his plea and gave him a certificate.”
“I will advise once again that this matter be laid to rest to avoid distractions and more troubles to this effect.
Because if Sunday Udeh had refused to issue him that certificate as he wanted, he would have laid it that he doesn’t want his progress. And now that Chief Sunday Udeh has ignorantly granted him the certificate and the consequences arise for both of them, let everybody bear his cross and stop unnecessary insinuations” Uzuegbunam stated.
P.M.EXPRESS findings revealed that Chief Sunday Udeh and some of his Executives including elders and traditional rulers actually crowned Chief Chibuike Azubuike as Obi Ndigbo of Lagos as shown in the videos and pictures at his palace in Abaranje in Ikotun area of Lagos.

Also Chief Chibuike Azubuike was duly crowned Obi Ndigbo of Alimosho by Council of Ndieze before Chief Sunday Udeh crowned him as Obi Ndigbo of Lagos State.
