I’m Not Tired, You Can’t Just Sack Me, Dismissed Officer Dares Air Force

A 41-year old dismissed Air Force Officer, Edwin Okon has dared the Nigeria Armed Forces by returning to his official duty with his full military uniform after he was dismissed for allegedly committing undisclosed offence.
He said that he was not yet tired of serving his fatherland and the force cannot just sack him while at the prime of his profession.
Akwa Ibom State-born Okon faced a room trial where he was found guilty and dismissed from the Force, but that did not stop him from continuing his military work.
He was arrested at Ojo Military Cantonment from where he was charged before  Apapa Magistrate’s court with impersonation under the Criminal code.
Okon was arrested while he was wearing complete military uniform and was parading himself as serving Nigerian Air officer.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that when the authority who knew he was sacked apprehended him and asked to know why he was still wearing the uniform and also claiming to be a serving officer.
He reportedly replied that he cannot just be sacked like that as he was not tired of the military profession and that was why he still wears the uniform and performs his duty.
He was detained and later charged to court for the alleged offence and the uniform was presented as exhibit before the court.
When Okon was arraigned, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Kokoye asked the court while granting him bail, the court should do so to enable Okon to come to court to face trial.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr M.A. Etti granted Okon bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was further adjourned till 17 February 2017.
