There was a twist in the matter involving a trader, Mr. Sunday Ezeh, at Ikotun Market in Lagos State, whose wife, Nwaneka Ezeh, had been delivered of three female children in the past 14 years and had no male child since they got married as he plans to get another wife.
P.M.EXPRESS reports an embittered Sunday Ezeh has reportedly chased his wife and three daughters away from their house at 48 Baba Ijesha Street, Moonlight Bus Stop, Igando area of Lagos, where they reside.
The embittered husband had threatened to kill his wife and the three daughters if they did not leave his house to enable him to get married to another woman, who will bear him a male child that will inherit his properties when he eventually dies.
This was disclosed by the embattled wife, Mrs. Ezeh, who claimed that she had gone into hiding to save her life and that of their daughters, who her husband hated with passion because they were females.
The embattled mother of three, Nwaneka, got married to Mr. Sunday from Awgu in Awgu Local Government area of Enugu State, 14 years ago and they had only daughters.
Mr. Sunday was angry and wanted the wife to leave his house with her daughters so that he will get another wife, who was identified as Miss Blessing, who promised to bear him a male child.
According to the wife, her husband told her that the new woman, Miss Blessing, promised that she will bear a male child for him, who will inherit his properties but on conditions that he will send his wife and three daughters away from their house before she would move in and get married to him.
Her demand was what prompted Mr. Sunday to have attacked his wife with cutlass and attempted to kill and the daughters before they were rescued by a good Samaritan, who handed him over to the Police for his alleged conduct.
The matter was initially reported at Igando Police Division, where Sunday was detained for his conduct but later moved to the Gender Section of the State Command for further investigation after Mr. Sunday had asked his wife and the three daughters, Joy, 13, Blessing, 5 and Miracle, 4, to leave.
“My husband became violent and blamed me for being responsible for the female children and claimed that I brought ill luck by not bearing a male child that will inherit his property. He then vowed to frustrate me and the children.”
“He stopped providing food for the family, stopped the children from going to school and ordered me to move away from his house with the daughters so that he will bring in another woman.”
While operatives at the Gender Section were still investigating his conduct, he pleaded and signed an undertaking that he will start providing both food and education for the children but had failed to do so. Rather he went to Igando Customary Court in Lagos seeking for the dissolution of the union so that he will not provide food and education for the children.
When Mr. Sunday was contacted, he told P.M.EXPRESS reporter that he does not want Nwaneka again and that he lost interest after she had a miscarriage after the doctor had told him that the expected baby was a male child. He said that he can only give his wife and children the sum of N500,000 for their education, feeding, healthcare and accommodation on the condition that they will move out from the house which he built with his wife including other properties and six shops at the Ikotun Market.
The woman, Nwaneka, is crying out for assistance from well meaning Nigerians as she claimed that Mr. Sunday had boasted that he will use his money to ensure that she and the children left his house or he will eliminate them to enable him get another wife.
