Police Uncover Hotel Where Syndicates Use For Fake Recruitments

Police operatives in Lagos have uncovered a popular hotel in Ajao Estate where syndicates use to scam people under false pretence of securing Federal Road Safety Corps jobs.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the hotel, known as JoyGate, is located at Ajao Estate, Lagos, where the syndicates lodge and use the place to defraud members of the public under the false pretence of securing employment.
The place was exposed after one of the victims, Florence Ikhide, was lured to the hotel and N500,000 was obtained from her under the false pretence of securing Federal Road Safety Commission job for one Obehi Purity Ikhide.
According to the victim, the syndicate convinced her that they had contacted at the Headquarters of Federal Road Safety Commission to engage those who wanted to be employed as workers but on condition to part with the said amount, which she paid and it later turned out to be a scam.
The alleged fraud was reported to the Police and one of the members of the syndicate, Shodipe Tosin, 37, was arrested and detained at Ajao Police Division for interrogation.
It was gathered that during investigation, the Police discovered that Tosin and his gang had no such connection with the authorities of Federal Road Safety Commission.
Having been found culpable, the suspect, Tosin, was charged before the Ejigbo Magistrates Court for obtaining by false pretence and stealing.
He pleaded not guilty.
The
prosecutor, Supol Kenneth Asibor, asked the Court to give a date for hearing to
enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. T.O.Shomade, granted him bail in the sum of N500,000
with one surety in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail
conditions while the matter was adjourned till 4th March, 2020.
